IBM Olympic Cards.
Driver Name: olp

Contact: Nicolai Petri <npp@distortion.dk>
Status: Work in progress.

This page contains a non-working driver for the Olympic based token ring cards. The following cards will be supported (I think ;-) ):

  • IBM PCI Token Ring cards
  • Compaq PCI Token Ring cards (probably not all of them!)

The driver requires FreeBSD 3.x patched with Token Ring support, or FreeBSD 4.x (CURRENT).

Because of limited time and capabilities, it would be nice if others were willing to do a little work on this driver. If you feel you have the time then please email me at npp@distortion.dk. Comments and suggestions are also very welcome.

Current Features:

  • Probing and attaching the card.
  • Configuring the card through ifconfig and assign ipaddress.
  • Joining the ring.
  • Autosensing speed.

To do:

  • No receive code yet. Work in progress: ETA 1 May.
  • No transmit code yet.
  • No promiscuous mode.
  • No source routing.

The following files are required:

You must include "pseudo-device token" in the kernel config file.

For this driver to work, create a line like "device olp0". If you have more than one card, please create additional devices (like olp1, olp2, etc).
