hentaiFREE (www.nohentai.com) (becoming "Sites Without Hentai")
The leading anti-hentai organization, hentaiFREE boasts 2578 members and an application rate of roughly 200 new sites per month as of 23 December 1999. They have recently acquired the above domain name and absorbed WC-20 head Rebecca Chen into the vice-presidency role. CereCere of the Amazoness Quartet describes hF as one of the worst trends of 1999 ("HentaiFREE serves no logical purpose other than to create a paranoia that every second anime site is going to contain hentai").

hentaiFREE recently went down completely, after repeated murmurings of a "new layout." The splash graphic which has been up for several days (as of 17 February 2000) informs graphical browser users that "hentaiFREE is gone. Sites Without Hentai is coming." Whether this represents a shift in focus or simply a cosmetic change is as yet unclear.

WC-20 (www.geocities.com/Athens/Atrium/8115/)
WC-20, a more general "anti-smut" site with an eye towards hentai, follows close behind in profile, if not membership. The webring, as of 26 December 1999, contained 88 links (some, including one belonging to its president, dead); the individual membership list was missing. WC-20 appears to have gone rusty; the projects list from some time ago is missing, the partnership link to hentaiFREE is two generations out of date, and the webring is not necessarily well-kept. It remains to be seen whether Chen's involvement with hF will result in a merger, or if WC-20 will see further upkeep (a Flash splashpage doesn't really count as content).
