statement

By CereCere of the Amazoness Quartet.
hentaiFREEfree has been asked to make this statement available alongside its reference to "Land of the hentaiFREE." The opinions expressed are those of the Amazoness Quartet and may not represent those of hentaiFREEfree. We note that the rant contains an additional note in response to the revised mission statement; the AQ, with that, have fewer issues with hentaiFREE.

First, we apologize to anyone who is a member of hentaiFREE and doesn't hate hentai, or the people who like hentai. However, I remind you, you did sign up for this club and when you sign up for something, you automatically give your consent and say you agree with the views of the clubs leadership. Sorry for the generalizations JunJun made in the rant, but thats how it works. You sign, you are a part of what they believe. It says right on hentaiFREE's main page:

"What's the club about? hentai FREE is a club for hentai HATERS - those of us with a sense of morality and decency, who don't want kids or other innocent victims stumbling on what we believe to be perverted, disgusting junk! If you dislike hentai, are proud to have a clean website, and want to work towards a cleaner internet for everyone[...]"

Note the word HATERS in big capital letters in there. If you don't hate hentai or people who like hentai, why did you sign up? Think about that for a moment.

If you signed up only because you thought their banner program provided a service to your visitors, well think again.

If you don't agree with the club's leaders, then consider making your own banners? You do not need to be part of a club to tell people your site is free of adult content.

If you are one of those people that do agree with the views of HentaiFREE's leadership, fine, thats your decision, thats your beliefs. We respect them; we do not hate you. Hate (or Hater, in this case,) is such a dirty word. Give me any of those four letter words you are not supposed to say and I will list "Hate" above all of them.

Finally, here is the main point of the rant and this is for everyone, whether you hate hentai or not:

How does HentaiFREE define hentai?

  • Is it adult content?
  • Is it nudity?
  • Is it sex?
  • Is it sexual themes?
  • Is it stuff indended for those eighteen or over?

They don't say! Look at the anime/manga they cover with their banners, and link lists. What do some of these anime/manga contain?

  • Ranma 1/2: Full of nudity and sexual themes
  • Tenchi: Full of nudity and sexual themes
  • Slayers: Oh, there's nudity and jokes about Lina's breast size in every episode
  • Fushigi Yuugi: Nudity, sexual themes, sex and even rape!
  • Eva: Nudity, sex, and oh, yes, masturbation...
  • Devil Hunter Yohko: Don't get me started.

And that's not all... Even Japanese SM has a lot of sexual themes and some nudity. Especially in the manga.

Go to your local Blockbuster and look at the animation section. Notice all those R ratings and "Not For Kids" labels on all most of those anime? Most of those are not even "adult anime."

[hff notes: Blockbuster in the UK, so far as we know, shuffles the anime into the Action or Science Fiction sections, or may well see fit to set aside a "Manga" section. The tapes are not generally indicated as "not for kids," but they do tend to stock Manga and Kiseki releases with ratings of 12, 15 or 18.]

The point is, it's good and all that certain sites are taking the step to provide a service like this to its visitors, but when you run a site devoted to one of these anime/manga, 98% of your visitors have seen that story, and all of the material in it. So why censor the website, when it's not censored in the show?!?! As for the 2% who haven't seen it, aren't you doing them a disservice by not telling them that type of material is in the show? They go out and rent it and BAM! Nudity! Sex! They are left saying, "Where did this all come from!? I thought this show was hentai free!"

It's one thing to say your site is devoid of hentai, but if the show isn't, why bother?

It's one thing to be against sites that focus only on hentai, or hentai anime. However, another to avoid the issue altogether when it is mentioned in the story.

Now if hentaiFREE said:
"Some of the anime listed here are A or R-rated in North America. The sites listed with this club do not concentrate on adult graphics, or on the brief sexual situations that are in these anime. They may from time to time mention it happening, but will not focus on it."
Then we would have a different opinion of them. They are at least showing that the anime/manga they cover does contain adult material (by North American standards). That is what we believe hentaiFREE does not understand. They do not realize what is in half of those anime.

Thanks again for all your comments. We remind you all, this is only our opinion about hentaiFREE and the beliefs of its leadership. We are not completely biased against sites that display the hentaiFREE banners, but we do think they are pretty pointless for the reasons we expressed above.
