Doc's Fansub Distro

Distribution Guidelines

Distribution is open!!

NOTICE

Distribution is scheduled to close on 4/30/00. I will be moving after graduation, so I need to get everything completed and packed. I have no idea if/when distribution will re-open.

1] I have decided to allow anime fans to acquire copies from me through a distribution service. I want you to realize that this is a service, not a business. I am asking you to be considerate of me, because I am medical student, meaning that I really don't have much free time. School mostly consists of clinical rotations (i.e., working in clinics and on the hospital wards), so my schedule varies on a weekly basis. This means that turnaround time will vary depending on what service I am on at that time. However, I will try to keep distribution open and see how things go.

2] When you send in your request, please provide the following information (see the example at the bottom of this page):

  • E-Mail address
  • Full name
  • Mailing address - street, city, state, zip code
  • Titles requested
  • Request method
  • Tape brand (SASE only)

    EXPLANATIONS
    Titles Requested

  • No more than 3 tapes can be requested at a time. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
  • Mixing and matching is allowed, within reason, for titles that do not fill an entire tape.
  • Tapes are copied at the same speed as mine. Do not ask for EP copies of SP titles. The only EP title offered at this time is Dragon Ball TV, NOT Dragon Ball Z TV. You can only request 1 tape of Dragon Ball TV at a time.

    Request Method

  • Reimbursement - You send me a money order, personal check, or cash to cover the cost of the tapes and shipping.
Note: For SVHS requests, you must use the SASE method.
  • SASE - You purchase the tapes (only certain brands and grades - see below), send them to me UNOPENED in a bubble mailer with return postage for USPS Priority Mail ($3.20 stamp). If you are requesting from a foreign country, including Canada, special arrangements are necessary for SASE. Contact me for details.
  • Acceptable tape brands:
VHS - Maxell HiFi, TDK HiFi, Fuji AV
SVHS - Maxell SVHS, TDK SVHS, Fuji SHVS
If you want to send another brand or grade, please let me know and await approval before sending tapes.

  • I can make copies in the following manner:
    SVHS to SVHS
    SVHS to VHS
    VHS to VHS

It may take anywhere from 1 day to 1 week to get a reply about your request. PLEASE do not send any additional e-mails until it has been over 1 week since you sent in your original request.

3] Here are the costs (in US Dollars) of a request based on the number of tapes. Please note that Priority Mail has increased by $0.20, which is the cause of the price increase for a request.

For Fuji Pro Premium VHS HiFi tapes:

    # of tapesTape CostShippingTotal Cost
    1$3.80 $4.20$8.00
    2$7.30 $4.20$11.50
    3$10.80 $4.20$15.00

Add $1 to the total for each tape requiring me to use a T-160 (those titles in yellow).
Shipping costs include postage for USPS Priority Mail ($3.20) and a protective bubble mailer ($1).
For foreign orders, please contact me about shipping costs.
Also for foreign orders, all payments must be in CASH (US Dollars). No foreign money orders accepted (including Canada).

4] Once I receive your request by e-mail, I will check it and send you a message letting you know if it is approved or if it needs to be revised and resubmitted. If approved, you will receive my mailing address in the message.

5] Once I receive your payment/tapes in the mail, you enter the recording queue. This means that the earlier I receive your request, the sooner I can make your copies. The time in the queue varies on how many requests are already in the queue, how many of those have EP tapes, how much time I have to make copies, etc. PLEASE do not send me any messages asking "When are my tapes going to be copied?" or "Have you sent my tapes yet?", unless it has been over 4 weeks since the date I have received your request. This date and others will be listed on the Distribution Status page, that will be updated often.

6] Once the tapes are copied, they will be packaged at sent the next time I make a trip to the Post Office (usually once a week). Check the Distribution Status page to see what date your tapes were mailed.

7] I am asking that you wait one month from the day I send your tapes before making another request. This is to allow me to distribute to a greater number of fans. Please be considerate of your fellow fans and patient with me. This 'Next Request' date will be listed on the Distribution Status page.

8] Donations are appreciated but neither expected nor required. Donations help with maintenance of VCRs and costs of translations.

9] Only one EP tape per request. This means only one tape of DragonBall TV per request, since it is the only EP title I offer for distribution. This does not apply to DragonBall Z TV, DragonBall GT TV, or any other fansubs listed. Please DO NOT ask for any exceptions!! Please DO NOT as for any other titles to be copied in EP!!

10] Please DO NOT get someone else to request additonal tapes for you. This is called a 'gang hit' and I do not appreciate it. Be patient and you will get your tapes as quickly as possible. For more information about 'gang hits' and 'distributor abuse', please read this section of the FANSUB FAQ.
